President's Corner
Hello Everyone,
WELCOME BACK to our Bloomingdale Senior High School family for the 2009 - 2010 School Year.
I hope all or you had a wonderful Summer Break and your students are excited about their new year at school. On behalf of PTSA, I wish every student at BSHS a successful, prosperous, healthy and safe year.
Your support last year by joining the PTSA gave us great opportunities to bring our Community together to work with our students and teachers.
We acknowledge that you may not always have the time to volunteer at the school, but there is a way you can still show your continued support and that is by becoming a Member of your BSHS PTSA. Please click on the Membership Form link on the left to download the form at your convenience. All you have to do is complete and send it in with your dues to Chris Baker, Membership Chair, PTSA, via the School Main Office.
We achieved so much last year by your support and that is the way we have to continue to build; to become a strong TEAM in our school, our Community and our County. Let's work together for our students.
Events coming up are our 2nd Annual 5K Family Run on November 7th, and our Annual Reflections Program. Check out the web-link at ptareflections.org. This year's theme is "Beauty is . . .". We look forward to seeing the talents of our Bloomingdale students! Also, we are still recycling Ink Cartridges. Please send them in to Ms. Harris in the Media Center. Ms. Harris, our Media
Center Specialist, can purchase new books for our students to use.
A General Meeting of Membership is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, in the Media Center at 3:15 p.m. At this meeting, we will discuss our upcoming Events, vote on our Budget for the year and vote in new Board Members. Also this would be a good time for you to bring up ideas and suggestions. BRING YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD FOR VOTING. Ice-cream sundaes will be served immediately after the meeting. NEW MEMBERS ARE VERY MUCH WELCOMED -- YOU CAN JOIN ON THAT NIGHT!
Best Wishes Always,
Catrina Miller, PTSA President

What Does It Mean To Belong To PTA/PTSA?
Well, it means partnering with your school and those parent leaders who volunteer to develop programs, sponsor events and provide both parents and students with the tools that help all children succeed!
It means showing your child just how much value you place on their education and the place where they receive it!
It means connnecting with a group of volunteers who share ideas and network with community partners to promote public education in your area!
It means demonstrating to your Principal and your local elected officials that you are engaged and involved in your student's education, and that you are invested in the decision-making process!
Finally, and even more importantly, it means joing the largest child advocacy group in the nation, and joining your voice with millions of other voices who speak out for children--not only in Tallahasee, but in Washington, D.C. as well!
The reason we belong to PTA/PTSA is not only to make a difference in the classroom and the school, it's to make a difference
in all classrooms and all schools.
Every member makes our voice even stronger and now more than ever we need very voice!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED HERE AT BLOOMINGDALE!

BSHS PTSA Needs You! Volunteer
Portomento of Hope Cafe -- A local Soup Kitchen in the Brandon area is in need of our help, please call Lila Lilyquist at the Cafe at 813-681-2444 for more details on how you can be of assistance. Students will receive community service hours for their time given.
COMMUNITY SERVICE! If your student would like to volunteer and will be entering 9th, 10th or 11th grade, they will need to see their Guidance Counselor to complete the necessary paperwork. Students entering 12th grade still need to pick up the volunteer sheet, that needs to be signed each time volunteer hours are given. This is a requirement set by Bright Futures. Your student can volunteer in other areas too! Please visit www.sdhc.k12.fl.us/involvement for more information.
Keep your eyes open for information coming soon on ...!
